Yes, after all I'm a pirate too so I can't complain too much about the game's content, the final word goes to those who financially support the project, and if it's going in this direction with a passive MC it means they want this
I can't think of a better irony than paypigs ruining all enthusiasm for a game
directly with their insistence on paying for content. Let me lay out the inevitable and hilarious cycle:
- Hijack a project that already has a generalized, engage fanbase.
- Bribe the author to steer the project in a direction they want but most other people don't like.
- As the author decides to cater to the paypigs because 'hey, they're paying', it alienates the already generalized, engaged fanbase.
- Creator becomes more and more dependent on the paypigs to keep the project afloat.
- The creator finds that he's actually not enthusiastic about the project anymore, it's just a paycheck courtesy of dipshits who do not care about your project beyond how it caters to their fetishes. Or, more rarely, the creator finds he only cares about the fetishes the paypigs pushed him into.
- Given the previous step, the project deteriorates. Either the creator loses all of their passion for the project, or the creator's career follow that of Ed Wood's as they stop caring about anything other than indulging fetishes. For much the same reason now that I wrote that, complete with being unable to comprehend how their fetishes ruins any other statement they're trying to make.
- The project ends prematurely, having never lived up to its initial promises. Next to burnout from having to cater to idiots who don't care about the project beyond how it tickles their fetishes, there's also the issue of Patreon funds drying up for various reasons--usually because paypigs aren't that big of a portion of your project, and they can't sustain a game once the non-paypig supporters flee.
- Alternatively, if it's lucky enough, the project stumbles its way to the finish line before the paypigs drain it out of all vitality. And the creator either learns their lesson for the next project or sets their next project up for failure by inviting the paypigs in early next time.
Who weeps for the project at this point? No one, I guess. I've never seen a creator fucked over by paypigs admit what happened. The people who cared about the project beyond paypig fetishes have not only long since left, they are using you as an example of how
not to make a game. The paypigs don't give a damn about the wasted potential; they got theirs, and there's always some other sucker willing to set fire to their erotica project for some short-term cheddar. Goose that Laid the Golden Egg is a fairytale we tell children for a reason.
Given all that, can you tell why I am so amused that Sex Valley is going down the road of Corruption of Champions 2? Bro slurped on the paypig poison, unaware that this is the equivalent of taking out a loan from the mafia. Let's see if our low-foresight-having creator can pay off their new pitiless coomer masters back before they hollow out their magnum opus!
