Do you still get genuine pleasure and unique emotions from anime? Or has it long been just another type of content you consume? Or, if you are already a very experienced anime enthusiast, has it simply become something like a routine part of your daily life? When was the last time, when (and what title exactly) anime made you really feel impressed and thought about yourself?

Genuine pleasure? Sometimes.

Unique emotions? Probably not.

Genuine pleasure? Often.

Unique Emotions? Rarely. I think I experienced all emotions I could have while watching stuff, maybe something will prove me wrong in the future.

Well, there are some enjoyable animes to watch, but the vast majority of shows suck...suck very badly, I might add.

Yes. Even after 1000 completed anime, surprises are always behind the corner.

For example, right now I'm pleasantly surprised by Dagashi Kashi, an anime that combines the educational aspect of learning about Japanese snacks and a character (Hotaru Shidare) that redefines the concept of bakadere by being genuinely retarded instead of just a silly persona.

I still giggle like the happiest person when watching a romcom. I still pump my fist in the air when watching a battle shounen. I still laugh till my stomach hurts when watching a comedy anime.

I've been watching anime since I was a kid and have seen hundreds of them, it NEVER lost its magic or appeal to me. Anime always brings about a magical qualia, a wonderful sense of emotions no matter the genre/era/etc.

Not sure what you mean by "unique emotions"; there are a limited amount of emotions one can feel, and I wouldn't realy call any emotions I feel unique.

But anyway, I'm watching My Hero Academia right now, and it gives me joy and excitement to watch it. Some of the funny scenes make me smile. I'm invested in the main character's journey. It's something I look forward to and think about sometimes even when I'm not watching it.

I would never watch an anime out of routine. That doesn't make sense to me. I will watch something because I want to watch it. If I watched something "just 'cause", that'd be a huge waste of time. There are too many sources of entertainment, too many hobbies and projects available for me to waste time consuming content just for the sake of consuming content

@Kiyomice Obviously, in this case I meant an unusual and unfamiliar emotional experience for you.

My sense of wonder is mostly gone, but I am still enjoying anime. Once I find a good one, which has become fairly rare.

Last time I watched something that made me think was last week: Zettai Shounen.

Genuine pleasure yes, i got that out of any 7/10 and beyond on my list. Unique emotions though? I guess the atmosphere of the first few episodes in Frieren felt different than anything else i watched, it was like wind was blowing at me. a good myster/thriller just has me glued to the screen with the occasional "WHAT THE FUCK?". Non Non Biyori makes me feel incredibly nostalgic and i didn't grow up in a rural town or anything.

If one's answer is "no", that's a sign one should go do something else and re-evaluate why they're stuck in this sunk cost fallacy.

Anyway, I would not still be watching if anime was not still capable of surprising me.

It's my main source of entertainment these days, so yes.

Currently having a lot of fun with: Kekkai Sensen, for its dumb, insane spectacle; Ergo Proxy, for the strangeness and the atmosphere; and Hanasaku Iroha, for its heartwarming coming-of-age and humor.

Just last month finished a 10/10, Insomniacs After School, which gave me so much joy and awe.

Lastly, just want to mention Blue Giant and Inu-Oh, both of which got me so worked up purely through musical performances.

I still have very new and amazing experiences. Post Whole Cake One Piece, Frieren and Violet Evergarden would be pretty good examples for recent shows I've watched.

Not really but these are some shows I've watched/been watching in the past 4 weeks:

Chi. Chikyuu no Undou no Tsuite
GTO
Hajime no Ippo
NHK ni Youkoso!
Seirei no Moribito
Shigurui (just started yesterday)
Yu Yu Hakusho
Zoids: Chaotic Century

Tho the last one that truly impressed me was Kaiba that I watched last year but generally all these remind me of "now THIS is anime".

Genuine pleasure? Yes. There are still some Anime that manages to make me feel happy and satisfied regardless of whether I've seen its kind before or not.
Unique Emotions? Not sure. I think I'll remember if an Anime has recently made me feel something different or special or both. But I can't seem to think of one... at least not yet.

Do you still get genuine pleasure and unique emotions from anime?
I find myself still reaching for anime when i want to watch something, even if i try to go outside my comfortable range, i watch an anime and i still find it more entertaining.

has it long been just another type of content you consume?
it is, i have watched and enjoyed other films and series either Live action or animated

if you are already a very experienced anime enthusiast, has it simply become something like a routine part of your daily life?
It's all in due part of my FOMO, I stop watching anime for a day or week then suddenly something gets trending and I'm out of the loop and turns out i like the series everyone's talking about. So i still watch weekly seasonal animes that i go for

When was the last time, when (and what title exactly) anime made you really feel impressed and thought about yourself?
Frieren, Dungeon Meshi, Apothecary Diaries, Bocchi The Rock, Dandadan and not even anime there are even donghuas you find on bilibili; Ruthless Blade, Fog Hill of the Five Elements, Zhen Dao Ge, and Legend of Hei. there's more than Japanese anime and we're not dependent on just 1 market to produce the same quality of animation or even better, that's what make me feel hopeful

Not as often as I did before but every now and then shows like Shangri-La Frontier and Solo Leveling make me get teary eyed and emotional and smile like an idiot during edgy/hype/badass scenes.

I still have the mind of a 15 y/o. Sometimes I'd rewatch scenes like United States of Smash or the Monkey King scene from God of HS while drunk and cry a lil' from overwhelming hype.

Due to a personality disorder, fiction is about the only easily accessible source of actual emotions for me. I tend not to feel much otherwise. Anime is the fast food equivalent among fiction emotion sources to me.

No, I still feel emotions about it. If I didnt I would just stop watching it, like how I just stopped watching Netflix and similars.

I have laugh recently with animes like 100-girlfriends, eager to know what other over the top stupidity they will try to bring next week.

I still get genuine pleasure out of Anime sure. But with emotions it's more just a varying degree instead of something unique.
The last time that I felt impressed? hmm.. Towards the end of last year while watching To Your Eternity kinda put me in deeper thoughts and feelings than usual. It's still one of my favourite openings too :)

I still have genuine pleasure in watching anime, but recently I have found something that makes me happier, and it doesn't happen very often, so I prioritize that over watching anime. As for my unique emotion, it would be that I feel very excited about it, just thinking about it, wanting to talk about it more, wanting to know more about it. And the last time I felt this way, it happened not long ago. The anime that made me feel that way was BanG Dream! Ave Mujica. But from episode 10 onwards, that feeling has decreased. But if I were to choose another anime that gave me a unique emotion, it would be SHIROBAKO, which I just watched last year.

Dandadan gave me the same high that I felt when I watched one piece over 12 years ago.
So yes, I do feel it sometimes.
