Idk how to feel about this Rosclay guy. Just came here and had an ambition.

We got another fight this episode but in a stadium. I wasn't that impressed with that fight though. And Plumeshade..I wonder what her agenda is. This is seocnd half of the show and I'm guessing they're building more and bigger events up leading to the finale.

I like the story ok? But are they rly gonna make 2 seasons of just introductions just to do the royal games WAY later? thats a bold decision since its rly prone to viewers dropping it.

like imagine records of ragnarok but all the introductions of all the gods and human champions being done b4 the first match...

Ik theyre trying to compensate by making the introductions still have action and fight scenes (and even eliminate the weaker ones while at it) but at some point i start feeling other introductions weren't even necessary if they were just gonna die to new characters. Like does Rosclay even stands a chance against Mexil or kia? even as a pure swordsman Soujiro can clap him. enough champions bro start the damned games 🫠

Not gonna lie, I was really worried coming into this episode, thinking they are gonna be adapting 90 pages, Rosclay, Lucunoca and Toroa/Kiyazuna/Mele scenes. It makes sense because I'm used to the 6 episode per volume rule. But they did a pretty unprecedented thing, instead of rushing through Rosclay story or skipping some of the Toroa/Kiyazuna/Mele scenes, they decided to postpone Lucunoca's introduction for next episode. So next episode is still the end of volume2 and start of volume3 with Psianop introduction.

As for the episode, it was probably one of my favorites. The Rosclay part especially was so so so well adapted, it literally couldn't have gotten better, they didn't skip a single important point, some dialogues were changed a bit, like they usually do, but it didn't change the overall meaning. Rosclay's part was one of my least favorite in volume 2, but ended up being my favorite part of this anime season.

By the way, the Charijisuya the Blasting Blade was Gilnes's enchanted blade from the beginning. Then Kiyazuna stole it, then Toroa stole it, then Linaris's team took it, then he got it back, by one of his men changing it. The reason why it happened so dramatically, is because there were always eyes on him, and once he was in the shop, the guards that stood outside, couldn't see what was happening inside with the sword exchange. Usually it would be dishnorable to bring an enchanted blade, since it's not your strength, it's a borrowed strength, while Word Arts is allowed since it's your strength. But Rosclay didn't mind it and didn't cancel the duel, because he wanted to practice against a strong opponent.

The final scene with Jelki and Rosclay was a bit disappointing, because of how much they cut from it. Like how they got intel on Mestelexil and Toroa fighting thanks to Kuuro's reports(he didn't mean to snitch on them, he was just describing everything he was observing through radzio). How they used Mele against Particle Storm by fabricating the false information that the Particle Storm is gonna pass through his village, while it wasn't the case.

Just to be clear, Gilnes want the 100 men to shoot at himself, not Rosclay, so that it'd look like Rosclay cheat, thus tarnishing Rosclay's absolute reputation. I love when the studio trust the audience to connect the dot by themselves like this. Needless to say that Gilnes's plan failed horribly. I'm a little bit sad that he was killed, he's kinda cute.

Toroa suddenly becomes a love expert and give advice to Kuuro. But the yonkoma manga suggests that he's quite envious of the love between Kuuro and Cuneigh.

Damn Rosclay vs Gilnes was a bit underwhelming. I’m a little confused on rosclay too. So is he like Reinhard with natural buffs and skills protecting him or are those things on his back all artificial spells that effectively make him immortal? I’m guessing they disrupted the spectators ability to interfere with the fight, but I was a lil confused on if he’s just a fraud or not.

Rosclay childhood friend said that rings are a sign of marriage in the distant world, so was she insinuating that Rosclay is from there or what?

It seem like we’ve had 10-15 people introduced who are supposedly invincible, unstoppable, absolute etc so who really is unstoppable 😂. These royal games can’t come soon enough because I’d love to see Rosclay take on Mestalaxil or the vampire waifu with her magical spells.

Kuuro came through! He owes Cuneigh infinite headpats and a big thank you. Best girl so far in the whole series. Respect to Toroa as well for helping out.

So next week we will finally get more info about Okahu and the grey haired boy I hope. Surely we have to be getting near the actual battles too..

@Marinate1016
In the world of Ishura he basically has a reputation as the strongest knight like Reinhard, but in reality besides sword techniques he gets buffs from his supporters & uses sabotage to defeat his enemy.

Basically the insight into knowledge and culture from the distant world is quite well known in the world. So I think the girl just thought Rosclay was trying to propose to her with a ring like in the distant world.

Of course that's what makes this series interesting. We will subconsciously guess how a character will be defeated by/defeat an opponent only to be surprised afterwards.

Oh yeah, Toroa might need to change his name to Toroa the Sigma

Next week there will be two Shura introduced and one of them is a character that Yuno mentioned at the beginning of season 1.

Ok this episode we got introduced to Rosclay the Absolute. Contrary to his second name he is easily easily the weakest champion in that'll fight in the games but at the same time he may be the toughest to beat because the outcome has already been decided in his favor. He maybe a false artificial champion but it won't be easy beating him.

Also someone already said this but I also really do love that they used "the world's most adept social engineer" to describe him.

He has great strength or is the strongest but in a way different from the other champions. He's a normal human/Minia but will still compete with all these impossible monsters that are the Shura/champions.

We also get a quick mention of the First party. A group of powerful champions that first went to slay the true demon king but despite each of their abilities they failed and only 2 survived. We see one of them Romzo the Star Map, in this episode.

I knew the moment this one opened up with Gilnes getting a match set up with Rosclay in the episode named after Rosclay, Gilnes would not be making it past this episode lol, and that’s exactly what happened, however I was expecting him to get stomped, he actually put up a decent fight, but once his plan fell through it was over for him, kinda sad because they made me like him in his short time but it is what it is, these Old Kingdom Loyalists are not long for this world.

The fight was pretty sick tho, I liked seeing these two heroes duke it out, as well as Rosclay’s skills and powers, and damn he was pretty dastardly with the reveal that he’s cheating too lol, I thought this meant he was a bastard but that moment he had later with Iska revealed that he’s just doing things this way because he has to, I really do like the idea behind him being a false idol/hero, even if he cut down a real hero, I think he’s pretty cool.

And the rest of the episode was dedicated to most of the characters we’ve met in this season so far, the Toroa and Kuuro moment was especially nice, getting love advice from a guy like Toroa must mean you’ve hit rock bottom lol, it was sweet tho. And I thought we might be seeing Toroa’s entrance into the games at the end, but he turned down Mizial too lol, not sure if it’ll stay that way but I thought that was funny. And it’s interesting to hear this actually wasn’t the end of Volume 2 yet, with next episode being the end of 2 and the start of 3, I’d say that was probably for the best for the sake of pacing, I’m interested in seeing where Volume 3 takes us!

@Marinate1016 Those things on his back are radios. In this world, magic (word arts as they call it), work anywhere your voice can reach.
And thus, he got multiple radios connected to skilled mages in a room far away casting magic to help him. Like making him move faster, using lightning or creating multiple swords. To put it simply, he's a cheater and a pretty weak minia.
He's a fake hero fabricated by the kingdom to be a symbol for strength and peace.

The story is a slow burn. It's better to get to know every character so you actually know who they are, what they can do, and a reason to give a shit about them. It's not like the character introductions are interrupting the story either; it's one continuous story just told from the perspective of everyone involved. The only, exception is Higuare, whose story was told in a flashback, but even that was just half an episode. After episode 5, the last seven episodes are dedicated to the story; the only character introduction being Nihilo, and it was during the main story as just a twenty second clip of narration. It was even explained that the Lithia War were the preliminaries of the tournament.

Season two is introducing the different factions (Aureatia, Obsidian Eyes, Gray Haired Child) and showing off the shuras power as Aureatian officials choose who to sponsor for the tournament. Plus there's still the mystery of the Demon King's death and the True Hero.

Trust me, the tournament flat out does not work without everything the series is setting up. This series is not a turn your brain off battle royale, it's a political thriller and character drama. This season will be the last of the character introductions though. There's even a possibility that the season will end with the first match, but they'd have to cut a lot of content.

I couldn't help but mildly chuckle at Toroa trying to play matchmaker between Kuuro and Cuneigh

Ooft I knew it was remotely using word arts but I didn't quite catch they were just ordinary radios. That makes sense.

Presumably since the announcer voice says so it must be true but it also isn't entirely his skill since some of the sword skills are word arts coming from others maybe unless he does the stuff for the sword while the others do other matters. If he was up against Toroa the Awful his ass would be so cooked Id think.

I think Iska is possibly his step sister or half sister. In one line I heard her say "nii-sama" mid sentence but the sub put it as "you're". Plus her whole "ara ara" and embrace seem to fit the archetype and how he was a little distant seeming in his warmth with whom is presumably the mother is how I figure she is not a full blooded sister.

The author of this anime has created dozens, if not hundreds, of characters with very different designs, and yet they all have a story. Convex, so to speak. Not cardboard. Relationships, intrigue, investigation, drama, some action. It's definitely not the best anime, but there's a kiloton of work put into it. Lots of interesting concepts. There's a lot to look at. There were some interesting interactions at the end of the first season. Kind of like hero vs. army. I hope this anime will be filmed in its entirety and the story will be wrapped up.

The author once made a character ranking based on sword skills, the order is like this: Soujirou>Toroa>Higuare>Dakai (with Razhucort)>Rosclay>Dakai (without Razhucort)>Hyakurai (One of the Obsidian Eye members who is a sword user)

Ahhhhhhhhhh ok, but he still is a good swordsman no?
@Marinate1016 Yes he is. As someone else pointed out, it was stated by the narrator.

I was ready to hate Rosclay as being a cheating bastard but he doesn't seem like a bad guy seeing how he was with Iska and practicality reasons it doesn't matter he's a fraud.

Rosclay childhood friend said that rings are a sign of marriage in the distant world, so was she insinuating that Rosclay is from there or what?

Yeah just ordinary radios. Now that I think about it, the application of that can be quite insane. Unlimited range magic as long as you got radios everywhere.

range of a radio wouldnt really be unlimited. It would depend on the size and power of a transmitter or relay and the environmental and atmospheric conditions. Higher frequencies get blocked off by trees, which is why 5G phones suck and 4G or earlier is always used in rural areas. You also can interfere with signals by blocking them with noise. What I wonder though is if multiple radio receivers could a single person broadcast word art magic in multiple locations at once or magnify the effects with no extra effort.

@traed It will have limits but would still be pretty OP.
And as technology improves, the limits would decrease over time. With ours real world internet, a person can stream their voice and image all over the world with a very negligible delay.
It's not just about fighting, but about all the utility world arts can provide. You could technically use it to build an entire castle without much effort.

I want 3 more seasons. It's annoying that with each new season there's more and more crap like "Even Given the Worthless "Appraiser" Class, I’m Actually the Strongest", "Bogus Skill <<Fruitmaster>>: About That Time I Became Able to Eat Unlimited Numbers of Skill Fruits (That Kill You)". In my memory, this is the season with the highest number of bottom-of-the-barrel titles. Not just bottom-of-the-barrel, but specifically trash.
Sure, it's funny to discuss my desires at a time when I pirate the views and don't pay a dime to the anime creators. But that doesn't stop me from wanting it.

I wonder who’s going to come out on top.

I have my doubts about the silver-haired kid—he’s sharp, but even making the best possible choices won’t always be enough.

The immortal robot is a strong contender, but I’m curious if it can be sealed away forever or if the elf girl’s word-based magic can bypass its regeneration and actually take it down.

Speaking of the elf girl, her magic can pretty much do anything, but she’s limited by how quickly she can chant. If she’s up against an opponent with insane speed, that might be a problem.

The samurai guy had his moment in the spotlight, but compared to the absolute monsters in this fight, it’d feel kinda underwhelming if he won.

Who do you all think will come out victorious?

Gilnes the Battering Ram being charged for treason, yet the plan between him and Romzo the Star Map (one of the few who survived the True Demon War) to allay Rosclay the Absolute , it's clear who is the fan favourite, right at the heart of the stadium arena. But even with the warrior General having Charijisuya the Blasting Blade, at the cusp of attackers assisting him, defeating Rosclay as the next Hero with his infinite Word Arts, is next to impossible. Of course, this is the backhand deal between him and Romzo to kill a candidate, and towards the girl that he likes, even going as far as to present her a ring of engagement, he's the hero everyone wants but not everyone needs.

Kuuro thankfully has recovered from his injuries alongside Toroa from the Great Particle, and Cunleigh learning that he has awoken, that's definitely a sigh of relief. But for Aureatia's 22nd General of Mizial Plumeshade to coincidentally find him, Toroa certainly has enough of being used for other's gains.

Things are moving slowly but surely, though Rosclay is a guy that needs attention because of his exploits.

A fake hero, Rosclay—everyone likes him, but no one knows his true nature. I wonder why he chose to participate in the royal games.

Mestelexil is joining the royal games for the hero title as well… not surprising. It was pretty obvious he would, just like Toros, who only rejected Mizial for now.
